You can start to improve your health by doing things that make you feel good. This may sound contrary, but if you take a moment to think about it, it will work. By doing things that make you feel good I’m not referring to things that make you feel good at the moment that you are doing them. I am referring to doing things that make you feel good after you do them, and for make you feel good long-term.


For example, if you are torn between going to the gym for your workout, and going home to watch tv and eat Cheetos, you may think that going home and eating junk food will make you feel good. But project out a couple hours. Would eating the Cheetos really make you feel better than getting the heart pumping a little? When you go to bed at night, will you feel good about yourself for sitting on the sofa and stuffing your mouth with junk food, or would you feel better about yourself if you get in a nice workout, eat a salad and some healthy dinner?


We must look at the delayed gratification of feeling good and not the immediate fix (like a drug addict), of doing what will give us a few minutes of pleasure followed by poor health and feeling bad about your decision…so make a resolution for 2013 to do what makes you feel good!
